Zoey spends so much time keeping things from her friends, for fear of their safety and acceptance. Erik has a feeling something is up but she keeps reassuring him that is not the case. Zoey also finds common ground with Aphrodite, the girl she had de-throwned in the first book Marked. Who knows Zoey is making mistakes but also knows what it is like to have things you can't tell everyone. Someone is killing the adult vampyre's. Neferet has decide to launch an attack against the humans.

I really felt bad for Zoey in certain parts of this story. Like they were my friends mad at me. It was really emotional this story. Definitely a great story and series. I think Kristin adds a touch too it by being younger author. To allow the teen angst to be so real, and so painful. I rate this 5 cupss as the series goes on I'm more and more hooked and wondering when the bad guy will get theirs. Great job Girls keep it up! You never cease to amaze me.
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-71122320803121773302010-08-13T14:45:00.000-07:002010-08-13T14:45:54.018-07:00House of Night Series~Betrayed by: P.C Cast & Kristin Cast
This book takes off where Marked left off. Having Zoey showed the true colors of Aphrodite, and getting her de-throned. Zoey is now the head of the Dark Daughters and Sons, as well as a high priestess in training. Of course Zoey didn't desire to be head of the Dark Daughters and Sons so she is feeling some guilt about taking that away from Aphrodite. Her boyfriend Erik is doing a monologue for a good part of the book and is absent from the House of Night, so she ends up meeting Loren Blake who is a part time professor, and he seems very interested in the young fledgling. Zoey finds herself keeping up with three different men, Loren, Erik and of course Heath, her human boyfriend/ex-boyfriend. One of the main characters doesn't adapt to the change well and Zoey spends much time feeling horrible over it and like her life can't continue. Her friends try to cheer her up, even though that seems impossible. And Zoey starts to question her mentors true intentions.

I really enjoy this series as it's refreshing to have a main character who deals with hurt and pain, to know that not everything is fun and games. Really gives a depth to her. Although I wish at least on the man front that she would pick on or at least if she is having so many issues to dump them all and go back to scratch. I rate this book 4 cups as it has some slow parts and then picks up when you find yourself at the end of the story.
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-38286004721421515222010-08-13T06:56:00.000-07:002010-08-13T06:56:20.860-07:00The Reckoning by: Kelley Armstrong

This is the third book in the series, we find Chloe, Simon, Derek and Tori have been on the run for what seems like forever. They have thought allies are that allies and now it turns out there were just different levels of backstabbing. Chloe and the others are becoming more in control of their super powers. There was a lot more action in this story then the others. Finally certain people are able to get their payback to the Edison Group like Tori, who's mother is a big part of the Edison Group. The boys get reconnected with their father. I really enjoyed this book, and series so far. Showed that the pretty girl didn't have to wind up with the cute boy, and that sometimes not everything is what it seems. And to not underestimate the power of kids.

I rate this 5 cups cause it left me running through the book to see how it ended. Definitely held my attention for great lengths. I totally recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Anyone would be able to connect with any of the main characters.
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-46758926520075555912010-08-12T07:21:00.000-07:002010-08-12T07:21:27.180-07:00The Awakening by: Kelley Armstrong
When we left Chloe she had been caught by the Edison Group, and so much has been learned. We found out that Chloe, Simon, Tori, Rae and Derek were part of kids that were experimented on and given unusual powers. Most of this book is spent with Chloe, Simon, Tori and Derek on the run from the Edison Group with the help of Liz, who's now a ghost at the hands of the Edison Group. Having been betrayed by Rae, who seems to accept the stories she's been sold. The other four aren't, and they are angry.

This book was good as you learned more about what these kids are having done to them. The adults seem well slow at best for catching the kids, these kids are always one step ahead of them. They also find a semi-ali in Andrew who was a ex-worker of the Edison Group who's formed a group to go against the Edison Group. Of course the kids are skeptical of what Andrew's plan or intention really is.

Lots of action and of course with Chloe lots of dead people rising. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

And I can't help but wonder what Tori's true intention is. What did you think of this one?
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-34778683594799823262010-08-05T05:46:00.000-07:002010-08-05T05:46:50.050-07:00Marked by: P.C.

What happens when you are marked and now that you can't live a normal life? Well Zoey knows that her only rescue of being marked is to get to the house of night. Of course that is easier said then done. As she goes home and her stepfather prepares to have religion shoved down her throat to some how save her. So she runs to her Grandmother who knows what Zoey needs. She takes her to the House of Night. Where Zoey will get guidance, loving friends, and the education she needs while she waits to see if her body will accept the change or not.

I like how she had to overcome some obstacles. If it was too easy for her to fit in then what kind of story would it be?

There really wasn't much I didn't enjoy about the book you had your bully, and your hero, and of course there is always a cute boy to attract the heroine. I especially like Zoey's mentor. There are times she sounds like a mentor that a lot of people wouldn't mind calling mom.

I think P.C. Cast hit on something and I think what makes the series extra special is that she wrote it with her daughter Kristin Cast, which must be such a great thing. Cause many years from now they will be able to sit back and recall when they wrote a series that caught an audience.

It's great and even adults can read it and can recall identifying with atlas one character if not more. I can't wait to start Betrayed.
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-82218003175168602572010-08-04T08:44:00.000-07:002010-08-04T08:44:03.813-07:00Today I GotEarly in the mail today I got my iPad so over the next few days I will be reviewing the following devices:

This book follows a young college student named Haley who has just come back from a mini-vacation with her new boyfriend Ty. When murder follows her in the trunk of her boyfriend's grandmother's car. The main suspect is Haley. During all of this Haley is scouring Los Angeles for a Sinful handbag.

While this is a good light read, not what one would consider a heavy mystery at all. Haley spends most of the time obsessing over a handbag, and getting her co-workers in all sorts of setbacks as they try to reach a high customer service rating.
The question today is Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies?

I think for beach buddies Derek from Awakening as he would be the one to keep all the meanies at bay and he wouldn't have to talk alot just be intimidating. I would also take the girls from The Saving Graces as who could go anywhere without some good girlfriends to talk and gossip. Those are my answers on the topic.

This book tells the story of Callie Grey who's looking for the same thing all women are looking for love, and to settle down to the next phase of her life. To bed her 1st kiss doesn't feel that way. Mark her boss at her job has decided to plan a beautiful night for Callie only to tell her they are over. Through out this book we watch as Callie gets walked all over by Mark and his new fiance Muriel. Callie decides at first that the best way to get past this would be to make him jealous but ultimately she doesn't do that she ends up getting hooked with the town vet. Meanwhile her father Tobias who cheated and dumped her mother many years ago when she was pregnant with Callie's brother has decided he wants Callie's help to woo her back. Callie's mom wants him to tell his one nighters all about why he was separated. Which brought three different women, one a widow, one blind, and one really old. Which brought up issues between the two over why he cheated and left. In the end they were able to reconcile. Also along the way Noah who is a Vermont legend with his boat making was able to found some pleasure in the final days with a local girl, Jody.

This book was cute and I found myself cracking up over Noah's attitude and language he reminds me of what a New Englander can be like old and crotchety. It was a great read and brought a smile to my face.

There wasn't much I didn't like and considering this was a HQN book that is a surprise usually I don't like them as much. But this one I enjoyed. This review was requested by FSB Media for a arc copy of the book.
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-80824267784099985162010-07-27T04:26:00.000-07:002010-07-27T04:29:46.829-07:00Teaser Tuesday (1)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Then I read in a few places how it is the book for those who hate alien books. Now I'm 82 pages into it and I'm feeling like my teeth are being pulled at the dentist with no novocain.

This is the same girl who got through 1/2 of Twilight in one night. So I know there is nothing wrong with my attention span or brain but for some odd reason this book is slow as hell, confusing to say the least jumps all over the place.

Way too confusing. Anyone else have any issues with this book? Or is it just me?
Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-74124739147713818572010-07-25T17:41:00.000-07:002010-07-25T17:41:54.507-07:00Time to Clean Up the booksWhat do you do when you want to get rid of your books, or you have too many that you just won't read again?

Well I came across this site which is working for me. It works on a point system you put up your books and you can choose whether or not, when a request comes in to allow or reject a request. You gain a point when you accept a offer. Then you ship the book to them. Then when you want a book you look it up and it costs you 1 point for each book. Mind you the shipping is on you but in all reality it's not so much. So today I was able to go through and request 5 books, not too bad if I do say so myself. So here's the link for the site. It's called BookMooch. I really like it.

So I guess the question here is when you want to widdle some books down how do you do it? And where do you send them?Book Loverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11219066314069329195noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7501173366680010898.post-45033227203700661622010-07-24T10:47:00.000-07:002010-07-24T10:47:54.438-07:00Annexed by: Sharon DogarThis story follows young Peter van Pels as he was along with his parents forced to go into hiding, in the famous Annex that Anne Frank wrote about in her diary (aka Kitty). While she wrote about the silence that they endured Peter's story is about how he felt. It started out when he went to a friends house Liese and watched as she was carted off to the death camps. Even though Peter was silent in the majority of Anne's story it is interesting to see what he thinks, how God deserted them while in the Annex. How Peter wanted to be a man, to build things out of wood, make love to a girl. How their future was undefined.

The writer did a great job at telling such a sad story. We all know the outcome for the future 8, and that in the end the one left was Otto Frank to tell his daughter's story. How Anne asked Peter "Would anyone ever know about them, or their story?" How a boy who hated Anne Frank so much came in the end to fall in love with her.

I know in this day and age alot of people have trouble still to this day with the what the German's did but if one can read Anne's diary one should definitely try to read Peter's story. It gives you a different spin on what was happening. How he wanted to beat up the German's.

At one point Peter thinks he just wants to be a man, not even saying he's Jewish. In the beginning of the book he went out walking with out his sticker on his sleeve and how people treated him differently. They treated him like he was normal and not Jewish.

Once they were caught the story went beyond the Diary to talk about what it was like in the camps that more than likely Peter survived a long time, 6 months longer than his father and a few days longer than his mother. That when the German's marched him on a death march, to wear his body down hoping he would die. He died at age 19.

This story was very well told, makes you feel bad for those who went hiding but good to know their story was told. I would recommend this story to others.
It's sad cause we all know the outcome of the story but to be a young teenage boy who should have been worrying about girls, and not about being caught. It's definitely good but very in-depth. As he thought more than he spoke. And from the get go he was not pleased in the least to be locked in the Annex with the loud spoken Anne Frank. On a dusty Alexandrian street, Egyptologist Daniel Knox comes across a Dead Sea Scroll jar that puts him on the trail of an ancient Jewish sect. But blood-and-thunder preacher Ernest Peterson has a sacred mission to complete and he's not about to let Knox or anyone else get in his way... From the back cover. This proves to be an interesting read especially since the book is a british book.
